Tom Hale - Meteorologist

Tom Hale joined TSN in October of 1999 as a relief meteorologist, but he’s had a passion for weather in his blood since he was 13 years old.

After obtaining degrees in broadcast management, sales, and meteorology, Tom began his career in broadcasting as weather forecaster and environmental reporter for television stations such as WLS (Chicago), KPIX (San Francisco) and WCPX (Orlando). His knowledge and on-air presentations earned him the coveted American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval. For six years he owned and operated the top rated Daytona Beach radio station WELE, where he created the now nationally syndicated “Real Country” radio format.

Additionally, Tom’s deep concern about the loss of teenage lives during Spring Break caused him to co-found the National Collegiate Sports Festival. This event, which culminated with a 90-minute ESPN special, was the nation’s first intramural sports championship. It involved over 18,000 co-eds during Spring Break in its first year.

Tom prides himself on being a communicator and storyteller, and many think he may actually be a walking encyclopedia because he is so well versed on so many interesting facts. And if you ever run into him, make sure to ask how he was instrumental in having the word “wimp” included in Webster’s Dictionary!
